Camden County College will hold its 50th annual commencement ceremony on May 11.

Here’s what the Class of 2018 can expect at this year’s graduation ceremony:

The ceremony will take place at 10 a.m. May 11 in the Truman Courtyard on the Blackwood Campus. The procession will start at 10 a.m. The recession will go into the Presidential Courtyard at noon.

The ceremony will be simulcast inside Civic Hall in the Connector Building, in case no seating, which is on a first-come, first-serve basis, remains in the courtyard.

More than 1,700 potential graduates are in this year’s class, says Jacqueline Tenuto, assistant dean of student development and support.

Graduates are allowed to decorate their graduation caps with personal messages and designs. Graduates who are members of honor societies are allowed to wear ornamentation that’s designated and approved for their honor society.

The campus’ Barnes and Noble bookstore will be open from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. May 11 in case relatives or friends want to purchase flowers, balloons or other memorabilia.

The Connector Café in the Connector Building will be open from 7:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. and will provide coffee services along with assorted pastries before the ceremony.

As a safety measure, “no backpacks or large bags will be permitted in or near the graduation site in Truman Courtyard,” states the Office of Public Safety.

In the event of extreme weather that could cause a delay or postponement of the ceremony, an announcement will be made on KYW Newsradio 1060 by 8 a.m. on the day of commencement, but the college says the best place to check for updates on commencement is on its website, camdencc.edu.
